Our final excursion of the season is to Kingston Wood. Our group visited Kingston Wood in 2024, but did not visit the south of the wood.  Chris Preston wrote “We hope that it will be possible to complete the survey of the main wood and its remaining satellite next winter”.  Kingston Wood was previously visited by John Ray who recorded “Fern Moss” Muscus filicinus (Thuidium tamariscinum) about 1663.  It was refound in nearby Pincote Wood in 2024 but not in Kingston Wood itself. Several new Orthotrichaceae were found in 2024, bringing the total for the wood and its satellites to 13 liverworts and 71 mosses.

Meet at 11 a.m.  The owner Julian Metherell writes “Please park in the farm yard (at the bottom of the drive on the right hand side)”.
