28 October 2023 (10:00 - 16:00)

RE-SCHEDULED: Due to Storm Babet throwing a spanner in the works last weekend, we are now running our Art, Science and Society event this Saturday instead!

The British Bryological Society is celebrating it’s Centennial year throughout 2023, and we are using this incredible milestone as an opportunity to open discussions around the surrounding environment and the importance of art in raising awareness around ecology.

There will be 5 art exhibitions all focusing on bryophytes and lichens, spanning a range of mediums from macro photography, to impressive textile and embroidery, to film art, illustration and painting.

There’s lots more information here:

Inês Hermione’s original paintings created for the Dundee Botanics Bryophytes and Lichens trail will be on display in the Green Gallery till the 2nd November. and she will be present in the gallery on Saturday 28th, Tuesday 31st, and Thursday 2nd.

If you can’t make it but would like to see the paintings you can find more information on them here:

Saturday will also see the launch of a toadstool trail featuring work by award-winning artist Suzanne Scott.

The weather isn’t looking brilliant but thankfully all the exhibitions are inside, so please do come have a look if you’re around. Free entry all day.
