We will be focusing on monad SK2503. Pooley Country Park encompasses what remains of Pooley Hall Colliery which closed in 1965. The main feature of this is a large spoil heap at various stages of vegetative succession, with some areas still gravelly but much of it now under tree cover. Some pools are present in the northwest of the square and it is bisected by a canal, so a variety of habitats for bryophytes to be found in.
