This bryophyte flora of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (SW. England) is published online at http://www.cisfbr.org.uk by the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Federation of Biological Recorders (CISFBR). The flora is based on 48,532 tetrad records collected mainly by the author from 1993-2010. Comparisons are also made with 33,943 records made or assembled by Mrs Jean Paton from 1950-1992.

The text consists of:

  • Introduction (covering Scope and aims of the studyCoverage and treatment of old recordsRecording since 1993, and Presentation of data).
  • Notes on Species (covering Introduction and abbreviationsHornwortsLiverworts and Mosses). The species accounts list the first records for each vice-county and comment on habitats, ecology and production of sporophytes. 625 maps show distribution by three date classes. Over 600 photos illustrate the majority of species.
  • Two analytical chapters then examine Coastal influences on bryophyte distribution and Analysis of changes in bryophyte distribution.
  • Finally, there is an extensive Bibliography.
