Sarsen Stones, Ashdown

Peter Creed has provided a selection of his beautiful images of some of the specialities of the vice-county.

Several of these were taken at Speen churcharyard, where Peter recorded Hedwigia ciliata in January 2019 and it was confirmed as a first county record for the species. He later returned with Martin Kennedy to count the cushions of Hedwigia ciliata . They counted 237 cushions on 9 gravestones, 3 of which had over 40 cushions. 3 other gravestones had Grimmia trichophylla and 4 others had Leucodon sciuroides.
