On Thursday 4th April, a blue plaque will be unveiled at 5 Bronwen Terrace, Harlech, the house in which Daniel Angell Jones (1861-1936) lived during the time that he was headmaster at Harlech council school. Daniel Angell Jones was an eminent botanist and bryologist who was also a lecturer for the University of Wales. He became Secretary of the newly formed BBS in 1923 a position that he held until he became president in 1935. You can read more about him here.

The plaque is to be unveiled at 11am by Liz Saville Roberts MP accompanied by a few words by Mark Lawley, A second ceremony will follow a few yards away to commemorate Dr John Thomas (1886-1933), the eminent chemist born in Harlech, following which there will be a small exhibition at the old Library with a cup of tea and welsh cakes. All are invited.
